Mind
Sleep. Sleep is the foundation. We treat it like one.
A medically guided approach to insomnia and disrupted sleep - designed to understand why you're not sleeping, not simply prescribe something to make you sleep. We assess your sleep patterns, lifestyle, medications, stress and other possible underlying causes before creating a personalised treatment plan.
Care in this area starts with a private consult: book a time and a Lume doctor discusses a tailored plan with you. Nothing is decided in advance.
Areas of care
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Waking frequently during the night
- Waking too early
- Shift-work sleep disruption
- Stress or anxiety-related sleep difficulties
- Reducing reliance on long-term sleep medication
Care options
- Short-term sleep support where clinically appropriate
- Prescription treatment where appropriate
- Melatonin-based treatment where appropriate
- Review and adjustment of existing sleep medication
- A structured plan to reduce or taper long-term sleep medication where clinically appropriate
- Sleep routine and behavioural interventions
- Referral for cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I)
- Investigation and management of underlying factors affecting your sleep

These are examples of the routes your doctor may consider with you. Nothing is dispensed without a consult, and prescription treatment is only issued where your doctor finds it clinically appropriate.
Prescription treatment is only recommended and prescribed where clinically appropriate following assessment by a registered medical practitioner.

FAQs
Common questions.
- Do you prescribe sleeping tablets long-term?
- Generally no. We use them strategically and pair every prescription with a behavioural plan and taper.
- What if I might have sleep apnoea?
- We'll screen with the STOP-Bang questionnaire and refer you for a home sleep study if your risk is elevated.
- Is melatonin safe?
- For most adults, yes - at low, timed doses. We avoid recreational dosing and tailor it to your circadian pattern.
